OUT FOR DINNER UNDER THE STARS: KONG RESTAURANT
KONG. Sounds like a Japanese insult, "you stupid kong"; I'm sure you can get away with it in a heavy street fight !
KONG like ... THE hype place to be at night.
- because you have no idea of where you are; Paris or Tokyo ?
- because you are right in the middle of the sky with no other companion above than the twinkling stars.
- because the Terrasse Gallery offers you the comfort of a powerful cigar cosily seated in ample armchairs.
- because the DJ's create the buzz
- because of Starck's transparent chairs with geishas on the back, fluorescent stairs, pebble - like carpet and all his playful colours.
And the food is great; there again: Paris or Tokyo ?
I'll let you guess on your own.

Instead of grueling over the stupid fact that to loose 2 lbs of fat you need to loose a mere 8000 calories, which is, there's no other word, the end of the world, why don't we set up for a NEW YOU YEAR ?
( Anyway, thank God diets don't work, otherwise, by this time,we would be a size zero ! )
So, a NEW YOU YEAR : sounds terrific to me ! But how do we go about it, honey sweety pie ?
First thing : enjoy the promise and pleasure of brewing coffee with its subtle and spicy aroma surrounding your delicate nostrils little by little.
While enjoying that totally free moment of yours, sipping that wonderful Brazilian arabica, let your thoughts wander towards all what you would wish yourself if you had the best of horoscopes to read.
A melting - pot of new exhibits to discover, a few new places to explore, several restaurants to try, the new stores to test... We could go all day long with the list. But we'll get to there !
May I suggest jotting down in your agenda THE TOP SEPTEMBER EXHIBITS ?
SEPTEMBER 2010 :
- 4 GREAT PHOTOGRAPHERS at MAISON EUROPEENNE DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE from September 8th till October 31st, 2010
Fabien CHALON ( 51 years old) : this gigantic and activated work of art is in Gare du Nord since June 2008 and strikes time with all sorts of enigmatic and animated special effects...
Karl LAGERFELD : no presentation needed I believe .
Given to see his works, a teeny weetsy bit of his work : portraits, fashion, sites and architecture.
Kimoko YOSHIDA
Kimiko YOSHIDA ( 48 years old)
"Là où je ne suis pas" : autoportraits from her 1st
brides to "Paints".
Kimiko is a Japanese artist who now lives in France. Her mother had thrown her out into the street when she was 3 and she left with as sole object, her treasure box. She took refuge in a public park to be found by the local police. Since then, she has always felt a nomad, a fugitive. No wonder !
Her "Mary-me" selection of porttraits comes straight from her love as a child to invent bride gowns for her dolls.

- playing hide and seek with tigers or what ? Gotcha !
-or passionnate love affair between Trees and Stones ? Guess who won ?

IMMEDIATE BOARDING FOR THE SENSUAL WORLD OF WANG KEPING : "LA CHAIR DES FORETS"
Till September 12th, 2010 at the Musée ZADKINE : 'LA CHAIR DES FORETS" ( Forest Flesh).
The title says it all.
Sensuality, simplicity, vitality, smoothness, tenderness, Life, : talking about us "women" there ? Well, sort of, "Women" of another kind certainly ... women of wood.
WANG KEPING not only loves women, but well knows how to evoke their powerful feminity and full curves through the smoothness of the tree's flesh, with its full body feeling, with its branches and knots.
Haven't you ever noticed that when one comes next to a tree, one wants automatically to pat it, to let an innocent hand go smoothly over its flesh ? Well, WANG KEPING went a little further than just carressing it !
WANG KEPING is a Chinese sculptor, born in 1949, who was still in High School when enrolled in the Red Army to be "re-educated". He arrived in France in 1984 where he let his art flow towards feminity.

Alexandra BOULAT from "REPORTERS SANS FRONTIERES"
Pierre and Alexandra BOULAT shared a very human but also disarming look on the poor suburbs of Nanterre in the 50's as on the suffering of Afghanistan mothers. They all have that intensity, that power quite overwhelming sometimes.
Ugh.

"CARMEN" UNDER THE STARS AT THE INVALIDES
CARMEN de BIZET AUX INVALIDES
Can you picture the fiery CARMEN singing her heart out in her opera ( with a little help from Bizet !) under the stars of the 7th arrondissement ? Well, it is happening right in the courtyard of the Cour d'Honneur of the INVALIDES from September 7th till September 14th, 2010.
Why should you go ?
- because it is out in the open night ... pray for good weather and not that crying sky like today's.
- because it is a fabulous opera... who wouldn' t go for a little passion these days ?
- because it is a wonderful way of discovering the opera... if you are totally ignorant of that form of art !
- because you can splurge in the formula "Vie de Chateau" ( 300 € only !) with champagne and FAUCHON macarons, divine hostesses to place you along with the program and an OPERA throw against the PARIS evening breeze... so much better than seated on your butt on a vulgar wooden bench without a sip to drink.
Tickets from 44 to 89 €.

FRENCH OR ENGLISH ?
As you might have come to notice, this strange girl FIDJI doesn't get it all in the same language in that blog. Maybe she just wanted us to see that her French was perfect ! Cut the crap please !
Switch to English seems quite easier, so sorry for all my French friends that I love dearly but I'm afraid all those little messages on what not to skip and what the musts are will now be in our friend Shakespeare"s language.

YOU THOUGHT YOU KNEW PARIS .... UNTIL NOW
DID YOU KNOW ?
- The Seine river flows at 2 km/ hour.
- The 1st traffic light dates from 1923, and was installed at the crossroad Strasbourg Saint Denis.
- The Arc de Triomphe was the 1st roundabout in the world !
- 30 species of fish live in the Seine river.
- The Paris pavements, the famous " pavés" were made of wood before being stone.
- The Pompadour, who had a strong craving for diamonds, lies forever under the Place Vendôme in a chapel which has now disappeared.
- The choice of settlement for the BHV was made over an umbrella.
Its founder, a bloke named Ruel, had placed stalls selling umbrellas and other items in different sites of Paris . The best sales went on at the corner of rue des Archives and rue de Rivoli.
So, that's where he decided to build his empire. Smart guy !
