IRRESISTIBLE PARISIENNE BY MICHEL CANETTI

Laughing with a sexy bend of the head, all hair loosened.

Languid and all curves out in an eternal LBD.

“ Stéphanie” making an entrance.

“ Pénélope” always in control, even when walking the dog … After all, it is one of the best ways to meet people on the curbside !

A hat tops it off.

And a man who sees us with such feminine bodies cannot but love woman ! Thank you Michel CANETTI !

I have just rediscovered this great artist in the latest COTE PARIS and now remember so well when he used to draw for JOYCE MAGAZINE.

DETAILS BY GRUAU

Dior_Rene_Gruau

A glamourous paw or … a feline hand ?

Rene_Gruau_Black_Hat

A sad eye or … a squaw black hat ?

Dior_1a

A large black splash or … a lean and long naked man ?

rene_gruau_00751_thumb2

An artistical question mark or … a whirl of a dancing lady ?

René Gruau (4 February 1909 - 31 March 2004)  was a renowned fashion illustrator? becoming the favorite artist of the  Haute Coutureworld : Dior, l’Officiel and many others. His  exaggerated portrayal of fashion design through painting has had a lasting effect on the fashion industry .

He was recognized one of the best for ads on all kinds of themes : Dior perfumes, Rouge Baiser lipstick, gloves, Eminence men’s underwear.

Born Renato Zavagli Ricciardelli in Rimini, Italy, on Feb. 4, 1909, Gruau was the son of an Italian count but instead of following in his father's footsteps and accepting the job of royal military commander his passion and inclination for arts led him to a love and pursuance of fine arts.

When René's mother, Maria Gruau, a French aristocrat, and his father separated when he was three, he moved to Paris with her. Gruau then took his mother's last name, which is the name he is known by, opposed to his father's last name and royal connection.

Such elegance in his drawings, now, one knows where it comes from. Aristocracy !!

WHAT A PAINTER !

CARINE HAYOT and her amazing and vibrant mix of colour and texture:

I'll let you be judge . I just fell in love right away !

Bric à brac de l'atelier

The colours of a tonic life, the joyfulness of a happy life, what more can you ask for ?

Bleu / Absolument

All the blues from the Caribbean in large and powerful strokes which makes all Carine HAYOT's paintings so present and full of life.

I had a hard time choosing only a few of her paintings once I discovered and browsed through her website and I couldn't stop until I had gone through ALL her works !

Le banc des écoliers

Citrus, lemon, tangerine, honeydew, pineapple, plum , all those sensual colours all in one energetic shot ! Waow !

And then suddenly, a little more seriousness which I like very much too.

Eternel recommencement

All soft hues, pastels, delicate flowers as delicate and feminine as the painter herself.
When you'll browse through her web site, notice that in many of her paintings, you'll spot that delicate and long stemmed witty flower like a very subtle and discreet signature.

You lacked sunshine, there you have it, full bloom !! Gorgeous colours !

Guess what ? I'll even be kind enough to give you straight away Carine HAYOT's precious web site !

Lilia DIMITRIEVA elegantly and swiftly made her way to HAUTE CREATION JEWELLERY through designs for Versace, unique and exclusive creations for the families Windsor and Rothschild, via an enriching stay at HERMES, pacing down the quiet and serious corridors of the Présidence de la République Française, to the more gilded and ornate salons of Middle East clients.

In other words : Charm, Beauty, and Chic Glamour.

ANNITA ROMANO AT GALERIE ARCANES

"I'll be there, waiting for you"

Just imagine for one second that when you wake up, right there, in your bedroom, you open your sleepy eyes on such life, on such good temper, on such good vibes ! Ready for a whole new day ! A sunny one ! A happy one ! This is all about Annita ROMANO .

I'll let you in on a few of  ANNITA ROMANO'S wonderful art pieces, I'll let you discover her magic world at GALERIE ARCANES .
An array of pearls of all colours, of all shapes and textures, these intricate pieces of fabric of different origins, stitched together with the know-how of Brazilian women and holding such a tender and poetic promise :
"I'll be there, waiting for you"

The enchanted and loving world of darling and so smiling Annita ROMANO sounds also like her other works too :

"Don't worry I'll be fine"

"I made this for you" and like "Will you dance with me ?" just below
"Will you dance with me ?"

One piece of art requires 3 months to come to such a vivid life, all the fabrics are chosen carefully by Annita, every pearl, ribbon, thread and then her strong imagination will combine bold and sophisticated, rugged and silky, plain fabric with printed one, which resemble very much her own country, Brazil with its high mix of different origins, with its rich and colourful traditions and rituals ; it's the carnival that you see in her work, it's the music, the danse which give her work such an enthousiastic feeling.

I suggest a visit to the Galerie ARCANES where you will be charmed by the authentic welcome of it's owner who is just like us, a woman of feelings, of "coups de coeur" as she has with Annita ROMANO who herself gave us the most pleasant and sweet welcome. A special thanks to her and great success for her 1st exhibit in PARIS  !

NOVEMBER IN PARIS : UNDER THE SPELL OF PHOTOGRAPHY

November is PHOTOGRAPHY MONTH :

PARIS PHOTO : Carrousel du Louvre from November 18th to 21st.
100 galleries , beautiful crowd too : why is that ? Most young and trendy Parisians enjoy and can afford photography ; we're far from the Fiac's budgets there ! Beware though, all the best art works go on day One.
http://www.mep-fr.org/

You'll end up with no legs, so escape then to CAFE MARLY or LE SAUT DU LOUP at the Louvre. LE FUMOIR is also a quaint little place to hang out with beautiful views on the Left Bank, and as you just came out from total Beauty, you might want to stay on that track.

One of the MAJOR photo exhibit one should not miss is the one featured at L'INSTITUT NEERLANDAIS.

ELLEN KOOI :

Poetic, strange, mysterious photographs. Ellen KOOI theatrically places her models like actors very often in incongruous positions.

Well, incongruous, not to all.

The effects of blues and yellows. Ouh ! Ellen KOOI deserves to be discovered for those not yet in the know.

The Institut Néerlandais also features BAS PRINCEN . See below :

Looks like China to me.

Donald Trump's latest condo ... gone bust !!

Wearing yellow helmets must be the new trend down there. Does it lead anywhere ? Answer at the Institut Néerlandais from November 17th till the 22nd.

LARRY CLARK exposes the United States youngsters of unfortunately not bygone days without any tabou or any filter. It's all there : sex, drugs, death.

RAYMOND DEPARDON with his new work from 2004 till today at the BIBLIOTHEQUE NATIONALE DE FRANCE -MITTERRAND until January 9th, 2011.

And a fall from the Eiffel Tower, by André KERTESZ

André KERTESZ at the JEU DE PAUME until February 6, 2011. Not to be missed.

This Hungarian photographer imported poetry to his work. He is well known for his deformed nudes taken in weird mirrors.

Hungary, Paris, New York. 50 years of photography spanning from the shadow of the Empire State building reflecting in a puddle to the cloud hitting hard on a rock.

SAINT PETERSBOURG at the GALERIE DU PASSAGE :

Danish WINNIE DENKER is enthrolled with Saint Petersburg's architecture . If you're planning a trip to Russia, it would be a  fascinating first contact.

Photographer Christophe JACROT must have spent his whole day today and  yesterday and even tomorrow  under this horrific pouring rain but now you'll see it under another light !

Maybe it was you today? Endlessly walking. I hope you had an umbrella.
Parisian life is quite wet : one day when coming out from the hairdresser all fluffy from the blow-dry, it started to rain, when I say rain, I really mean RAIN while I was walking fast under the Eiffel Tower, with NO umbrella. I just HAD to get home on the other bank. So, I stopped like any tourist would do at one of those stands and bought ... an umbrella. As I opened it, the words PARIS in big white letters stood out all over the damn tourist umbrella. I froze ! I instantly turned back to the vendor and said : "Sorry, sir, THAT I can't do . Over my dead body for me to walk Paris's streets with a PARIS tourist umbrella."
He gave me back my 5 bucks.... and I arrived home drenched, but still Parisian, not tourist, and hell I looked like an old bag of a dog and in real bad need of an new hairdresser's appointment.

14 ex / 80x120 cm 6 ex

Christophe JACROT' view of rain in Hong Kong. You would almost find it poetic and quite striking. It is.

His exhibit "HIVERS EN VILLES" will astonish you. Worth the visit; do take the time. Nature taking hold of  cities with rain  and snow storms.
From November 24 to January 8th, 2011 at :

GALERIE DE L'EUROPE
55, rue de Seine
Paris 6éme.

I would definitely believe that with this program you'll be quite busy in November, but it is also a month to take good care of oneself, to be pampered so I'll come back with enticing Beauty News for you to enjoy.

VERSAILLES AND IT'S NEW KING : MURAKAMI

Le ROI SOLEIL, alias, Louis XIV,  used to be THE king of Versailles. Well, at least this is how French history was told to scholars. Over Honey ! Another century, another story.
Now the KING is no other than MURAKAMI ( Japanese, well, yes ! Anything can happen these days at Versailles : see Jeff KOONS and his huge lobster squatting the King's drawing room; what could be worse ?!) .
So, it is that damn publicised and Louis Vuitton pattented MURAKAMI who has taken over. Darling Louis XIV  must be flabbergasted by what is happening to his own sweet home ! why don't you move over ? Can't you see that all those Contemporary Art freaks want your place, your home, your fame, as if they didn't have enough.

Let's put aside once and for all any kind of debate on such easy exhibits and please do go and see MURAKAMI as King of VERSAILLES; if not for him, at least for the palace !

IMMEDIATE BOARDING FOR THE SENSUAL WORLD OF WANG KEPING : "LA CHAIR DES FORETS"

Till September 12th, 2010 at the Musée ZADKINE : 'LA CHAIR DES FORETS" ( Forest Flesh).

The title says it all.

WOMAN by WANG KEPING

Sensuality, simplicity, vitality, smoothness, tenderness, Life, : talking about us "women" there ? Well, sort of, "Women" of another kind certainly ...  women of wood.

WANG KEPING not only loves women, but well knows how to evoke their powerful feminity and full curves  through the smoothness of the tree's flesh, with its full body feeling, with its branches and knots.

Haven't you ever noticed that when one comes next to a tree, one wants automatically to pat it, to let an innocent hand go smoothly over its flesh ? Well, WANG KEPING went a little further than just carressing it !

WANG KEPING is a Chinese sculptor, born in 1949, who was still in High School when enrolled in the Red Army to be "re-educated". He arrived in France in 1984 where he let his art flow towards feminity.
