UNIQUE ? DID WE SAY UNIQUE ? HOTEL UNIQUE, SAO PAULO, BRAZIL

THE UNIQUE is ther unique name ever imaginable for such a unique hotel :  so 21st-century sleek that they make New York's most cutting-edge hostelries seem old-guard.

The Unique, which is shaped like a slice of watermelon balanced on its curved edge, could stop traffic, literally. It's an architectural feat that seduces passersby, and the interiors measure up in innovative design.

What a lobby ! The  forty feet high glass wall  makes the contemporary leather and steel sofas and chairs appear almost to rest on the sidewalk.

Off to one side, illuminated shelves showcase liquor bottles, like a twist on stained glass.

In the guest rooms, soothing white furniture predominates, leaving the drama to the views of the city framed by the portholelike windows.

The spectacular view on Sao Paulo.

Really need to see the rooms ?

The corner suites follow the slope of the building, and in the state-of-the-art bathrooms, colorful inflatable tub pillows add whimsy.
